Living in the Longue Durée is a weekly blog focusing on all aspects of the past, human and natural, with particular interest in illuminating topics that allow for a fuller appreciation of the world around us or exhibit fascinating changes over large spans of time.
The author, Jacob Dicken, has a background in Near-Eastern archaeology with an undergraduate anthropology degree from University of Oregon and a masters in Ancient Israel Studies from Tel Aviv University. He has excavated at multiple archaeological sites, including Khirbet al-Ra’i and Azekah, both in Israel, and he interned at the Zigong Dinosaur Museum in China, thus getting some paleontology experience as well. This blog, while a history blog in short description, is thus in methodology primarily informed by anthropology, archaeology, and paleontology.
